The initial transfer portal deadline of the postseason, which lasted from early December through Jan. 18, has closed. Graduate students can still enter the transfer portal at any point, but outside of that, no one can enter the portal again until the next window opens following spring practice (May 1-15).
Like for most schools, the months of December and January have been extremely busy for East Carolina’s coaching staff. The Pirates actually lost a handful more players to the portal than they have added. Some of those departures were perhaps a bit more by design. Others, meanwhile, were decisions from the players as they wanted to pursue other opportunities (playing time, NIL, a fresh start, or otherwise). ECU was able to begin addressing its own needs in a big way, picking up a few linebackers, some key defensive backs and a veteran running back as well. Offensive line and wide receiver, as well as corner, remain priorities going forward for ECU in the recruiting process.
Below, we take a look at the entire list of departures (14) via the portal, and the entries (8). This update is as of Friday, Jan. 20. It will be updated throughout the offseason.
