An officer was injured after a man tried to steal his gun, according to a Facebook post from Gaffney Police Department.According to police, Officer David Baker pulled up to a traffic accident that had just happened on Friday at the intersection of Beltline Road and West Floyd Baker Boulevard.Police say that Baker arrived to the scene and made contact with both drivers involved in the accident. The driver of a 2002 Toyota Camry, Windell Wray III, of Mooresboro, North Carolina, who was involved in the accident, exited his vehicle and tried to take Baker’s gun, police say.According to police, Baker created distance between himself and Wray and quickly pulled out his stun gun. Wray then got back on his feet and tried to take Baker’s gun again by lunging at him, police say.Police say that Wray was tased multiple times before more officers could arrive to the scene.Baker suffered a fractured forearm during the altercation and both him and Wray were taken by EMS to a local hospital, according to police.Police say that officers gathered witness statements and other video footage confirming what happened during the incident.This is still an active investigation by Gaffney Police Department and charges against Wray are pending at this time.
