Miracle Mile Shops Unveils Free 3-D Light Show: Lower Your Expectations

The Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood have (or possibly has) launched a free new 3-D light show, “The Lost City Show.”

While we haven’t personally attended the new light show, which presumably features projection mapping technology, we have seen video.

Our recommendation: Lower your expectations. Did we mention it’s free?

If this light show doesn’t include “pew-pew” sound effects, we will be very disappointed.

Don’t get us started about that rendering, but they forgot Sin City Sindy, the world’s largest stripper outside the Showgirl Bar.

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always make it into renderings.

Yes, Showgirl Bar used to be called Stripper Bar, but Las Vegas is getting progressively more lame by the minute.

One would think a free 3-D light show would buck that trend, but, sorry, nope.

Here’s a look, courtesy of our friend @JamesinLasVegas.

We’re calling this a good try, but a huge missed opportunity.

“The Lost City Show,” and we’re using the term “show” very loosely here, runs at the top of each hour from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily.

The show was originally going to be called “Elements,” as it includes water, fire and earth. We assume the original name of the show was nixed due to threats of legal action by lawyers representing wood and metal. Unconfirmed.

While the light show appears to be a dud, unless you’re really drunk or really bored, there’s still hope.

Also in the works is a revamp of the mall’s rainstorm show. Fingers crossed. The upgraded storm experience will also have a projection component.

All the enhancements at Miracle Mile Shops are part of a major overhaul to spruce up the shopping complex, formerly called Desert Passage. It was renamed Miracle Mile Shops in 2007.

The refresh involved installation of more than 20,000-square-feet of LED screens on the exterior of the mall.

Local media missed a recent $425 million refinancing of Miracle Mile Shops, because of course they did.

Anyway, while we might not make a special trip to see “The Lost City Show,” it’s hard to get too mad about a free attraction. Those are becoming increasingly rare in Las Vegas.

Also, it’s a mall.

If you check it out, let us know what you think!

And please give our best to Sin City Sindy as you’re looking up her skirt. Everyone does it, but that doesn’t make it right.
