Jessica McKay was born on June 23, 1989, in Sydney, Australia. She grew up watching wrestling with her family and was particularly drawn to the antics of wrestlers like Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Her passion for wrestling only grew as she got older, and she began training at the age of 18 at the Pro Wrestling Alliance (PWA) school in Sydney.
Early Career
McKay quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with on the Australian wrestling scene. She competed in various promotions around the country under the ring name Jessie McKay and quickly made a name for herself as a talented and entertaining wrestler. She won several championships in Australia, including the PWWA Championship and the RCW Women’s Championship.

In 2015, McKay was signed by WWE and was assigned to their developmental brand, NXT. She made her televised debut on NXT in July of that year, quickly becoming a fan favorite. McKay’s character was known for her over-the-top personality and her signature move, the “Shades of Kay,” which involved her opponents being hit with a pair of sunglasses.
McKay spent several years in NXT, honing her skills and developing her character. In 2018, she was called up to the main roster and assigned to the SmackDown brand. She quickly made an impact on the main roster, teaming up with fellow Australian wrestler Peyton Royce to form the tag team The IIconics.
The IIconics were a hit with fans, thanks in large part to McKay’s comedic timing and Royce’s in-ring skills. The duo became known for their exaggerated Australian accents, their over-the-top entrances, and their signature move, the “IIconic pose.” They won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, but lost the title later that year.
Throughout her time in WWE, McKay proved herself to be a talented and versatile wrestler. She was equally adept at comedy and serious in-ring action, and was always willing to go the extra mile to entertain fans. Her dedication to her craft earned her a loyal following among WWE fans, who appreciated her unique personality and wrestling style.
Post-WWE
In April 2021, McKay was released from her WWE contract, along with several other wrestlers, as part of a cost-cutting measure by the company. Since her release, she has continued to wrestle on the independent circuit under her real name, Jessica McKay. She has also been keeping busy with other projects, including launching her own podcast called Off Her Chops.
Despite her departure from WWE, McKay’s legacy as one of Australia’s greatest professional wrestlers lives on. Her talent, passion, and dedication to the sport have inspired countless fans around the world, and her impact on the wrestling world will be felt for years to come.
